ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis baseball team defeated the SIUE Cougars 7-5 Tuesday night at the Billiken Sports Center. Freshman RHP Joe Powell (3-0) gets the win, his second against SIUE this season. With the win, the Bills rise to 23-10 in their 2013 campaign. The contest was the 208th game played by senior 2B Mike Levine at Saint Louis, a school record for games played.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Saint Louis freshman 3B Braxton Martinez has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced today. It is the first such honor of his career.
lt;br />Martinez continued to excel in his freshman campaign last week against SIUE and Butler. He hit .500 with a .550 on-base percentage and a .812 slugging percentage en route to a three-game sweep of Butler. Martinez leads all A-10 freshmen in those categories. This season, he has a .349 batting average (13th in A-10), .a 516 slugging percentage (fifth in A-10) and a .422 on-base percentage (12th in A-10).
