FWIW from Chick Ludwig in the Dayton Daily News

Red-hot rumor: Gregory to Marquette; Grant to UD

http://www.daytondailynews.com/o/content/s...on/chickludwig/

Chick Ludwig is an idiot. If he thinks that Dayton will somehow end up with the better of the two canidates for the Marquette job. No way MU will take Gregory over Grant. If they do they will fall so fast in the Big East BLaw won't know what happened.

That said Grant would be a great coach at his old school. He is the guy UD should have hired the last time around.

If Grant wants to come home, if I'm Dayton, I fire Gregory if he doesn't get the Marquette job and hire Grant. I'd be shocked if Gregory got the Marquette job. The article makes no sense in its assertion that Tom Izzo is "pulling the strings" for Gregory at Marquette. Since when does the coach of Michigan State decided who Marquette hires? Bizarre.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the article, "The Chickster" provides us with this nugget:

-- If the “Gregory to Marquette” deal falls through, Rick Majerus (Saint Louis) could go back to Marquette, where he once coached.

—-If Majerus leaves Saint Louis, the Billikens’ job would open up for SLU assistant Paul Biancardi, the former Wright State head coach who took the fall at Ohio State for then-head coach Jim O’Brien.

I could have sworn that was going to happen the minute MU joined the Big East and in 3 years they'd be begging to get into the A-10 because of how bad they were getting beaten down. At least that's what I read was going to happen on here.

Apparently the post was BS. The blogger is a Dayton hater. Plus, MU's AD is not in San Antonio. If did happen I'd be happy with it. But, MU apparently has bigger fish out there they can land. Still, if SLU had hired Gregory in 2002.....

and yes, they are considering Brownell.

I never said that. Gregory would be a terrible hire. Grant would be a great hire. You got a good program up there. I think Gregory is overmatched as a coach in the A-10. He would be the red headed step child in the Big East.
