The Wiz Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Tough loss against Duq...a game that was winnable. Point of information....last time we started 11-17 was 2010. For those that are gluttons for punishment see the Duq thread for the post game review. Also to see what was good about the game too (yes, there was some good) But I wouldn't spend too much time dwelling on it . As Coach K says ...."Next play" Mason (George not Micah) did us a favor by losing last night. That enabled us to be favored today even though we lost. The Bills remain at the D level....GM is a C-. Just because we are favored (finally) I wouldn't run out and talk smack. Good chance this game could be OT (again) Let's look at the numbers..... Here is what we need to do to win.... ..........................................................#s to win Off Slashline (today is fraction day)..........7/16 / 1/3 / 2/3 FTM.....................................................17 Steals....................................................4 Assists...................................................14 TO..........................................................12 Pts........................................................63 Def FG%......................................................2/5 3pt..........................................................1/4 FGM.......................................................23 Assists ....................................................10 Reb (hold GM to).....................................35 TOs..........................................................16 (we need to bother them) Thompson................................................11pts ...."......".....FG%.......................................under 1/2 Bottomline.....We need to play as a whole ....not as fractions. If we take care of business , we win. Quote
ACE Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Gotta get these last two home games just to get something positive before the season closes. Bona-welding certainly appears to be trending down. Quote

Bona-welding certainly appears to be trending down. I agree. We should beat GM and while we won't be favored in the St. B ( B- ) game the spread will be fairly close...so a good chance to finish strong at the Fetz. Quote

BilliKat Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Tomorrow is going to be a good day for winning... My niece, Mary Helen, will be contending for the baby race. So I'm betting on that too My sister will be sporting my Jordair shirt for good luck. Quote
willie Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Mary Ellen doesn't have a chance. There are 2 Shoes in the race. Quote
BilliKat Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Lol. We were hoping there'd be two McCaffreys... But they only accepted one... The slower one at that. But were rooting for her good luck to the shoes. Quote
slufan13 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 This should be a comfortable win. Mason is horrible. Quote
samslu Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Any reports on how the roads are in midtown? Snowing pretty hard out west. Quote

The Wiz Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Lol where is backhand? Is he preparing to rip the Wiz a new one? We shall see I doubt it ....since he went back after the game again and changed his prediction. The funny thing is he is getting worse at post game spreads . This time he missed by 20 AFTER the game. . Maybe on the 2nd post game edit he will get closer....lol Quote
Clock_Tower Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Who is Backhand? Postcard? Big Country? Paystubs? I don't recall reading anything of value from him. Quote

If we take care of business , we win. While this isn't pretty, I think it is interesting to see where the breakdown occurred. Let's look at the numbers first and then we will discuss ....................................................#'s to win................actual Offense. Right here is the spread....29-28=1pt ...SLU win 29+ 8 (from offense )= 37...On a normal night we would have won by 9. Put another way....they took exactly the same amount of shots we did and made 10 extra....They took 1 more FT and made 7 extra shots. Bottomline....GM had an extraordinary game...if we had not been on the court at all it would have been hard for them to duplicate some of these stats. Every team , every season has "The Game" This was "The Game" for GM. This isn't to overlook the fact that we had a number of defensive breakdowns and errors that had nothing to do with GM So a combination of slightly below average Off mixed with poor defense on the night GM has "The Game" = blowout. GM is a C- team that had an A+ game tonight. Game over...next game Quote

Is this just a coincidence? Fordham and G Mason both had The Game against us. Previously, we lost to bad teams (Texas A&M CC, etc. ). Are we not seeing a pattern? Bad defense creates open looks, which leads to made shots which boosts confidence which leads to more made shots.... Quote
